I’m currently at the 16 hour mark of being awake. I know that’s nothing crazy but I should probably get some sleep soon.

Indeliberatly awake when going off zyprexa I was not able to sleep for 11 days. I did however lie in bed each night trying to sleep. I felt near death at the end of it.
I expected natural sleep would come to me eventually, but I am totally dependant on the drug for sleep.

You literally didn’t get a single second of sleep for 11 days? That’s really scary. I’m on Olanzapine too. I’m scared if my pharmacy ever runs out and I cant get a refill that I wont be able to sleep. Going 11 days without sleep can kill you.
I’ll probably need olanzapine to sleep for the rest of my life.

Maybe, maybe not. Not everybody gets sleep problems when they try to quit.
Anyways it’s a good idea to have a little buffer with medicine. I try to have 3 months worth in reserve just in case something should happen.

My body was tired but my brain just wouldn’t shut down.

I’ve told this story on the forum,
But I was dating this super hot idiot that concluded sleep was not actually needed.
That it was a learned behavior.
So, he slept less each night until he got down to about 4 hours.
It had been a week at that point and he was already not doing well or looking good.
He made it I think over three days with absolutely no sleep.
After already being sleep deprived.
Lots of weirdness later he admitted to being wrong and slept it off.
But I swear it took a couple weeks of regular sleep to get him back to normalish.
Not a good idea.
I value sleep and get edgy even if I’ve missed a couple hours off my routine.

About 50 hours after taking speed and amphetamine felt angry, aggressive, tired and frustrated.

Well, like I explained I wanted to sleep and did everything I could to do so. I spent 10 hours in bed but sleep did not come to me.
Nobody had ever said to me stopping zyprexa could cause relentless insomnia. In fact officially it’s still not aknowkedged either in the medical community or by the producer as a side effect.

about 5 days… 115 to 120 hrs…and then it took a mix of haldol and ativan injections x2 to knock me out.
that was my longest but i used to regularly stay up for about 3 days straight then sleep for about 20 hrs.
i havent done that now in years. i learned that the longer i stay up, the less tired i get. so i stopped allowing myself to miss sleep.
