A man whom developed schizophrenia at university believing he was being monitored by cameras everywhere like the truman show got help for his condition but subsequently relapsed and became worse.
Then after being stable for a number of years and with his doctors help he cut down and stopped his medication.
This man who goes against what i believe to be possible is now training as a lawyer and has a wife and children, no symptoms or anything for 4 years.
What do you think about that?
Has anyone heard of any success stories like this one?
There’s a Norwegian lady who wrote a book about her schizophrenia.
She was very far down the rabbit hole, hallucinating vividly and hearing malicious voices.
She spent years in hospitals, but she lives a fairly normal life now. She sometimes still sees things, but they don’t scare her anymore. She takes them as a sign that she needs to de-stress.
Her name is Arnhild Lauveng, if I remember correctly.
There are very few stories about people who recover completely from psychosis. Many stories are known about people who, despite their problems, still have a reasonable life.
For example, I read a story about a woman who, after her psychosis, still managed to obtain a university degree. After that she did have a few psychoses.
But try to protect yourself against the exaggerated optimism of people. A psychosis is a serious disorder and you are in serious trouble if you have experienced something like this.
I was recovered from schizophrenia by my own method. But in this forum I read a post that some people claim to recover because probably they don’t have schizophrenia. So its doubtful.
I consider myself recovered. But I take a boatload of medications to be that way. Do you have to be off all psych meds to be considered fully recovered?
