As carriers to schizophrenia
12 to 15 years earlier than typical expectancy which is 78. So that puts it around 65
I’ve heard it said that it’s lower than the average age, but I think they factor the suicide rates into that.
The one I read did not factor in suicide. The one that did was 25 years shorter than typical expectancy.
Thanks friends 999555
They cited the reason was poor care compared to people without sz
Ouch…that’s scary
iirc suicide actually had less of an impact on life expectancy, and it was actually a bigger impact from cancer and cardiovascular diseases, with the latter probably being contributed to by the metabolic effects second gen’s can cause. interesting though, research indicates people with schizophrenia have LOWER rates of cancer and seem to be more protected from it, yet die more frequently because doctors just dont diagnose patients with it. this is especially concerning considering the same study found people with schizophrenia come into contact with doctors twice as often (unsurprisingly). confirms my suspicions that doctors blow those with mental health issues off, not that that’s new information or anything
No one knows how long they will live.
I know someone who drowned over Christmas - she was just 19 years old.
You never know what will happen to you and when
I had a delusion that I was going to die at 27 years old, so I lived my life hard and fast. In a way I came to peace with dying, now that the delusion is gone and I’m older than 27, the rest of my years are just gravy
I need to stop worrying about my nytol overdose. It was the strong ones
And I didn’t get pumped. I get concerned that it may have permanently affected me and thus my lifespan or shall I say health span. I just don’t know especially because my family threw away the pack so I couldn’t count and let my doctor know how many I took on a starved stomach to find out what the implications are.
Well if peeps quit smoking it would be higher.
It is what it is.
You can try to last longer by living healthily and if on meds then being extra careful with diet and exercise.
If you believe in heaven and hell, reincarnation or scientific theories such as quantum immortality then it makes no odds whether you expect to live to a certain age or not, even if other people seem to.
John Nash was 86 when he died and it was in a car crash not of natural causes.
Yeah him and his wife should have worn their seatbelts.
Quantum immortality sounds super interesting…I’m gonna research it right now
I’d like to know which aps and mood stabilizers shorten your life the least lol. Kinda scary, 15 years off your life is about worse than smoking
They lived in a time when seatbelts were optional. I know a lot of older people who have to be reminded to put their seatbelts on.
Oh, good. No saving for retirement! Actually, people in my family tend to live a long time despite their issues with cancer and cardiovascular disease. I’m probably going to live into my late eighties based on my grandparents’ life expectancies. A better estimate of how long you will live is how long your recent ancestors have lived.
Dang. My parents are in their mid eighties and super healthy and other relatives have lived to 100.
I cannot live that long!!!
