What works for negative symptoms?

I have mostly apathy and a lack of motivation. I kind of feel dull

nothing cures negatives except maybe the plain old stuff like routine, exercise, good diet, water, meditation, good meds that work, and grit. They told me to start small and just make it a habit and stuff. Start with the small stuff like showering and cleaning your room. break the task into small parts and maybe listen to music or something.

I had severe negatives and they have sort of returned. i tried like over 20 supplements. some gave me partial relief and some stopped working and others did more harm than good. Some did nothing. I spent too much money but I was desperate.

I should take my own advice because I just sit and do nothing. I sort of gave up on life already. I also enjoy computer time and reading and learning.

A better medication (Geodon), functioning on the lowest possible dose of it, diet, exercise, and therapy to develop good coping habits.

Stimulants, such as methylphenidate (Ritalin), often work for apathy, but can worsen positive symptoms. Caffeine is a stimulant too, but with a different mode of action. They can be combined.

Routine, schedules, productive useful habits etc. Make daily routines and follow them strictly.

I take sertraline SSRI and it helps me a lot with my negative symptoms. I’m guessing that in some people depression expresses itself as negative symptoms.

It’s hard to get started but costs you nothing. Try exercise. Set some simple goals and do them with a good routine.

Depression can have lack motivation and avolition as well.

Negative symptoms are a pain in the ****.
Some supplements might help. Like sarcosine, l-theanine and NAC. But it’s not a general rule unfortunately. Also, good sleep, light aerobic exercise and a relaxed but still active lifestyle can help fight negatives, but it takes patience.

Nothing works for negatives. I had severe negatives. I was on couch all day cursing my life. Now, I almost have no negatives. Yesterday I showered, today I cut my nails, everyday I go for a walk with the dog,

yea ritalin made me more psychotic. I tried and it helped for a while but then I got more psychotic again and they send me to the psych ward where they helped me get off it and changed my meds.

For me is routine a big help with negatives.

I heard Beta Alanine works for some people. Anyone try that?
