What was your first R rated movie. How old were you?

I was ten years old…I saw the gladiator but my mom made me look away for some of the gory parts. However the next week I watched it again on my own and loved the gory parts. I then saw braveheart and the patriot and others shortly after. Was always allowed to see pg13 movies.

I think The Lost Boys. It was a slumber party and I was 11 and my dad was super upset about it.

I saw Poltergeist a thriller/horror whatever at 6 or 7 years old with my family

Scream 3. I was at my grandparents house and they let us watch it because they didn’t know what it was.
My dad was upset, but they didn’t see the big deal.

My dad would let me and my siblings watch rated movies on the condition that he watched them first, so he could pause after scary scenes and talk to us about what we saw.

Yes, I’m quite fond of him
He’s a psychologist, so he knows a lot about humans

Is he a psychologist in Norway or Denmark?

In Norway.
We originally moved to Norway because he’d gotten a job at an orphanage there. We were supposed to only stay for a year, but my mum kept having kids (lol) and once we reached school age, they felt like they couldn’t just move.
When they separated, they agreed to stay in the same area until the youngest would reach 18, so we wouldn’t be far away from either parent.
My dad now lives in Southern Norway and works at a family center, and my mother is retired and lives in Northern Norway.

That’s sad they separated. Your parents seem to do what’s best for you as a child.

They did, and still do.
They explained to us that they wanted to separate while they could still remain friends, and I’m glad they did.
They both seem so much more happy now with their new spouses.

My sister was pretty upset about it for quite a while. She thought they should have stayed together for our sake. I feel like I’d rather have them separated and happy than together and miserable.

We never heard them argue, so the separation came as a shock, but looking back, I realise they were content but not happy.

when cable t.v. came to my town

I was 11 years old, and I saw all of us kids
go from playing outside to being inside watching t.v.

HBO was part of the package and they had rated R movies on there

but they weren’t my favorites and I avoided them.

I was about 5 I saw ET :disappointed_relieved:

Lol et isn’t rated r. I saw that when I was like 4 or 5 too

is that movie rated R?

when I was 5 we all went to see King Kong

I don’t think it was R, but it scared me to death!

I was 14 years old when I saw The Last Hard Men, starring Charlton Heston and James Coburn.
This was in 1976.

Probably Friday the 13th. I was 10. I remember going to see the Howling at the movies with my Dads friend and he covered my eyes for the nude scenes. I was 11 then.

Hannibal

I was 17 years 11 months and like 20 days old and they let me in after checking with the manager.

That movie has the infamous brain scene in it >_<

I snuck in a theatre to see “A Star is Born”. Barbara Streisand was one of my idols. Along with Cher and Chaka Khan. The movie was R rated and I had just turned 17.

I’ve seen a few as child but the one that stands out the most is ‘Saw’. I remember going into the theatre with my girlfriends when we were 16 (we all looked older so they let us in I guess) and after the movie we were like wtf kinda movie did we just watch? We were really freaked out! Lol
