What to take for panic when all SSRI/SNRI fails?

All SSRI/SNRIs except paroxetine gives me crying spells for no reason.

Does anybody have any suggestions for treating panic symptoms apart from benzos?

I take clozapine 200, paroxetine cr 37.5, clobazam 10mg

Effexor, buspar, vistaril

I second Vistaril, it doesn’t work that great on run of the mill anxiety but it works pretty good on panic attacks. It doesn’t let them get too high.

Therapy is your best shot for panic attacks.

Statistically, no medications are effective as a long-term solution to panic attacks. CBT and exposure therapy have really helped me a lot.

I’m not so sure about that. I’d say, lower stress by giving yourself lots of self love, and avoid taking on too much in school, work, relationships, see clearly what your needs are.

I also take busperone and propranolol.

Sure, that can’t hurt! But therapy is also very effective for panic attacks.

There’s only one person in my area who does therapy for PTSD

I was referred, but never called. I’m too scared to do it. I don’t wanna relive all my trauma.

I had really bad panic attacks for years. Got so bad I dissociated and had DP/DR 24/7 (chronic and severe case). Caffeine and nicotine make it worse, unfortunately. I tried some supplements that I forgot and it takes time – years. Therapy actually can make it WORSE despite what people think and pretend to know here. Same thing with APs. I’ve done the research too.

But overtime, I have gotten better and learning not be afraid of my thoughts and talking has helped. Exercise also cured it a bit but it eventually came back.

Those energy drinks are poison!

PTSD is not the same. Panic attacks are more typical of panic disorder. But yes, therapy works for PTSD as well. That sort of therapy is usually a lot more comprehensive and difficult than treatment for panic disorder.

ah! maybe they’re not related, but I never had panic attacks my whole life, til the incident.

You can definitely have panic attacks in PTSD as well. And having panic attacks does not mean you have panic disorder.

I’m on effexor for panic attacks. My pdoc says it’s FDA approved for it. We just upped my dose. I’m on other meds for anxiety, too.

There are lots of drugs FDA approved for panic attacks. But as a long term solution, they don’t work. They’re only meant as a temporary measure while you go to therapy and work out your anxieties.

Try methylation supplements like dmg, tmg, methyl folate etc. It will significantly reduce the needless anxieties and improves mood.
