What other thing besides voices do you have to have to be diagnosed with schizophrenia?
If you have voices alone you can be diagnosed schizophrenia. But if you have delusions too you’re even more likely to get the diagnosis. Or cognitive or negative symptoms. Or disorganized speech. Or visual hallucinations. I think you have to have at least 2 of them if you don’t have hallucinations to get sz diagnosis. Sorry if that sounds confusing
You can just have voices? I am so confused about the voices thing. I am diagnosed DID but I have thoughts really they arent voices but the thoughts are random. Anything from a son named Gone-too that has aids that I dont have to alot of weird things like can I sit beside you reffering to myself. My mommy doesnt care about me, please dont touch me there, after dinner clouds out if the blue. I always hear them internally but heard some schizophrenic people have internal voices as well. Do they sound like thoughts? Could this just be random thoughts? I get in fights internally sometimes. Is that common with schizophrenia?
I’m not sure but I used to have internal voices and it’s not something I’d wish on my worst enemy. I remember going grocery shopping and it taking me hours because the inner voice kept controlling me and there was anxiety because I was around people. My heart is with you @Lost1976 DID is a tough illness to deal with too if that’s what you have
But inner voices was probably my scariest most difficult bothersome symptom
Yeah, they scare me sometimes. They can be loud and random. What I am really upset about now is a therapist I am on another forum with said schizophrenics can have alters too. How can I know if I have DID or schizophrenia then?
Something that might help you is just accepting the symptoms you have and working on them individually.
Cause the label of diagnosis can be comforting and helpful but the most important part is treating symptoms.
You have to have two or more voices talking to each other, or one voice running a commentary upon your thoughts or actions. Or, you have to have bizarre delusions like thought broadcasting, thought control, thought withdrawal or thought insertion. Along with either negative or cognitive symptoms.
If you don’t have either of these, you have to have voices or hallucinations, along with non bizarre delusions. Along with either negative or cognitive symptoms.
Well people with DID can have voices talking to each other. How would you know the difference? Also I was wondering can schizophrenics have child voices. Really childlike thoughts. That say stuff like Mommy, I dont want green beans?
