I become out of balance, out of focus, racing thoughts, negative thoughts, false memory, feeling like hangover from alcohol. I can tollerate most of it, but false memorries are equivilent to having delusions, i feel this withdrawal from reducing just 10%
oh last time just that THE WHOLE WORLD IS OUT TO GET ME then I gave in and started taking it again.
Withdrawal symptoms are scary. You just dont know if its withdrawal or your actual psychosis starting.
When I came off the Prolixin decoate it took a while for that med to leave my system. When it did I became delusional and started to hallucinate. One time, at around 2:00 am I heard this “dead Indian war cry”. It was nothing like a coyote. It was extremely loud, nearby, and it changed up and down in inflection. It lasted a long time. It was the most frightening sound I’ve ever heard.
even people without schizo[phrenia get psychosis during anti psychotic withdrawal it isn’t necessarily your underlying schizophrenia.n
a lot of anxiety and tension in my jaw and neck muscles, but it could also be the sz symptoms starting up, so I don’t know. But that’s how I felt when I went off my meds for a week and a half recently. Needless to say, when I resumed my meds the tension and anxiety disappeared.
Hell. Heaven. Hell. Hell.
Thats true every person will become psychotic, even if he doesnt have psychotic illness and been taking it for many years, especially if they drop antipsychotic in a big chunk. My pdoc reduced by 0.25mg. This is the lowest dose risperdal have, but i cut 0.25mg in halfe and took it for 15 days and than removes the other half, and i still felt as if i am having psychosis, now its very obvious that it was withdrawal, since those symptoms disappear, this antiosychotics are worest withdrawal than compare with the most hard core street drugs. If i had reduced half a milligram i would probably end up in hospitall uping my dose.
Just a question, how did you convince your doctor to take you off meds??
I am not off med, i lowered the dose, from 2mg to 1mg. I might lower it again in several months.
i got psychosis from the withdrawl
When I stop my meds it tends to be all at once. With risperidone this was not an issue and I experienced no withdrawal. However with high dose seroquel I vomited a lot and became very itchy. My heart would race and I would become short of breath. I became very violent and delusional quite often. I have repeated this a few times with seroquel to find the same things happen. I would suggest weaning yourself from antipsychotics if you do go off.
mindwhisperer can I ask you a question please? how long did it take for the withdrawal effects to pass do you think for you? thanks dandydinmot.
It takes 10-15 days untill withdrawall symptoms goes away, and thats reducing 0.12mg. I dont know how long it will take if someone reduce higher dose.
Fortunately I never experienced any withdrawals. I was taken off 4mg of risperdal cold turkey then put on 5mg of zyprexa the very same night. If I did experience any withdrawals then I must not have been able to tell because the akathisia risperdal was causing was worse than any withdrawals I might have experienced after I stopped taking it. I really don’t think I experienced any, though. If anything I’ve felt a lot more alive and free ever since the morning after I was switched to zyprexa. Some of what I’ve read about people experiencing withdrawals sounds more like it could be schizophrenia acting up from cutting back or quitting antipsychotic medications instead of just withdrawals.
Last week i had a racing thought with false memories. It can be the way i am having delusion, i am not used to my symptoms…
But i wonder could this be a withdrawal symptoms? As i started reducing my medication in august-2014, its been almost 1 and half monthhs that i am taking 1 mg risperdal without any change, i am going to remain on this doseage. Most of the information on the internet are about those that have withdrawal symptoms from comming off from antypsychotic, but not from reducing.
