I’m just curious, what are the positives and negatives with being a moderator.
I imagine they see a lot of disturbing and weird stuff. Like all the deleted topics we don’t see.
I’m betting one of the negatives is that you have to read a lot of this forum daily whether or not you are in the mood. Some days I don’t feel like searching the forum much, other days a spend quite a bit of time here.
Good character, never been banned, very few or next to none selfie pictures. At least a year on the forum. Contribute to the forum. Assist new sz.com forum members.
This is the behaviour and character I have seen from all the moderators so far.
If I can give you an idea, right now I’ll be here a week or less before the next suspension.
They fight schizophrenia.com crime
Its hard work. 15
I actually think, out of all of us, only @Moonbeam meets this criteria. I got suspended once during a manic episode for telling someone nobody cares about their problems. It was really out of line and I had to apologize later. I felt really bad. This was before I became a mod.
Being a mod is mostly good, because instead of feeling guilty for spending so much time goofing about with friends online, I can be like “No, I wasn’t procrastinating. I was volunteering.” But we do see some disturbing stuff for sure. Not often, but it sticks with you. It helps to have a whole team, because we can support each other during the stressful times. I have no idea how @shutterbug managed on his own for so long.
He wasn’t tolerant.
Back way back we only had to worry about the site going down.
Now I worry about every little thing.
We do see some stuff. It’s been pretty quiet lately. Knock on wood.
I haven’t seen the worst. I feel for the ones who have.
They get immunity from prosecution?
They get promised rubber duckies for their bathtub for free.
(yeah, that’s funnier.)
Yeah if I’m being honest, that’s my favorite perk. That and the card we show to get out of traffic stops that says “Sz.com mod”
15 characters
lol this is funny and accurate
Badly towards the end.
I’ve only ever tried to ban myself. It didn’t work.
Moderating can be stressful.
Honestly. You have to read a hell of a lot of posts you probably wouldn’t. I used to spend way less time here so these days I do a regular cycle and try to skim through every post. It takes time. I used to just come here and read and reply to those threads that strike my interest. It does take a lot of work but it’s a team effort. I know If I miss something another mod will pick it up and visa versa.
