It’s not working for me
Did you talk about it with your doctor?
He most likely will turn me down
He must have a reason for it
So he thinks you need them, then.
I’ve been on meds that didn’t work. I didn’t quit meds altogether, I tried different ones until I found one that worked. Maybe you should tell your doctor your medication isn’t working for you and you want to try something else.
Take your meds until you are stable for over a year. Then taper down with pdoc approval.
This is what I did and now am AP free.
Are you diagnosed with schizophrenia, thanks
No, schizo affective.
Yes I am diagnosed with schizophrenia
I’ve read on internet that 30 % of schizophrenia patients came off antipsychotics at the 10 year mark without any return of psychosis. So maybe try it for 10 years then come off.
Are you able to still get benefits if you stop medicine. I’m planning on trying to come off medication in the future but I wouldn’t want to lose my benefits
Benefits is not based on medicines its based on your diagnosis and ability to work
I want you to promise us that you will get your doctor to taper you off your medicine if you decide to quit medicine.
If you’re going to do it, do it correctly. If your doctor likes it or not he’ll have to do it, to keep you safe, and you have a right to handle yourself and the consequences.
I just hope that you have a safety net and don’t become a lost person if you have a bad break.
You could try lowering your meds. I have tried myself but had to heighten them again.
I’ve always recommended being on the lowest therapeutic dose you can manage to stay on comfortably. I believe the science says it leads to the least amount of long term brain mass loss compared to being on high doses
I wouldn’t know. I’m not on SSRI or SSI.
But usually if you qualify for food stamps, you qualify for ssi. Have you applied for Ssi?
Yes. I was turned down because I made 1000$ over the limit.
Oh ok. Too bad.
