What i think

this is what i think about a few things. why is it that when we are talked about people talk to us normal.but right when they find out that we have SZ now we are 5 years old. i hate the stigma that SZ get OK yes we here voices. yes we might see things. and yes we get paranoid but no we are not crazy. we are not going to kill 100 people we just are not. if you do your home work which i hope a lot of you have. SZ are not homicidal we just are not. we rather hurt our self than others.(i am not telling anyone to hurt their self or anybody else just saying here) we just want to be left alone and do our own thing am i right?. its hard enough to live every min of our life with what we have. then to have everybody telling us we are crazy. your going to be messed up for the rest of your life. and pushing APmeds down our throat

The stigma is unfortunate. But I have to say some people with schizophrenia do have homicidal thoughts. It might be rare, I don’t know the stats.

The stigma hurts me, because I’m trying to find a partner, and dating online is near impossible the moment you tell them you have schizo and that its affected your life “this” way and “that” way. Frustrating…

I pretty much agreed with everything else, but Charlie Manson, Dylan Kliebold, Richard Reid, Jared Loughner, James Holmes and a bunch of other mass murderers (and wannabes) of late are living (or dead) proof that some people with sz cannot manage their paranoia well enough to be safe around others.

The following article is (like much in PT) a bit spongy here and there, but essentially accurate:

yea i here you. and i did not mean every single SZ i just ment the majorty. and about trying to find someone. this is i did it and it might work for you. get to know somebody a lil bit and when you think it might go somewere than that that person i have SZ and if that person accppts it. than u will know that might be the right person. and if not it is time to move on you know what i mean. and good luck

I wonder what percentage of schizophrenics actually commit murder compared to that of the general population.

We are not in the same ballpark as these people @notmoses, and I hate to think that we would need to take on the offenses of others who are criminals with intent. It is imperative that we stick to our regimen and find comfort in the balance of life, and not be overwhelmed by what’s in the media. Some will claim schizophrenia after the fact, but really they are driven by a much larger design that might include government or corporate mind control.

While I don’t suggest that it is a trait of schizophrenia nor is it common but people with schizophrenia have committed some horrific crimes. I think that many want to ignore or deny that these thing happen, but they do and we need to face it.

These things will continue and the media will report and sensationalize as always, we need to come up with ways to minimize the effect these atrocities have on public perception but we can’t do that by denying what’s happened.,

No, what I am saying is that after the crime, they claim schizophrenia. It’s not fair. They may not be mentally ill. And it carries so much of a torch, that it set everyone thinking we are impulsive, and killers.

I’m sure that happens but I’d guess that it’s not terribly common. There have been a number of cases that I’ve read about where there has been a long history of mental illness.

With James Holmes, for example, his parents were shocked. But maybe they should have seen more signs? I don’t know who’s totally guilty, but the illness should never, ever propel on to go on a shooting spree, and it seems very mysteriously done to the point of orchestration.

I’d like to think that but I can’t help but think that in some cases it does. :frowning:

Well, then blame the parents, friends, and the colleges. Blame the people who did nothing in the wake of such tragedy. No person should be able to execute ill plans against others, and if their minds were a factor, then blame their doctors. If one man takes another life, then he is beyond sick, he is in the realms of another exotic existence, and I don’t think even schizophrenia can hold that.

I don’t believe that behavior like this happens in a vacuum. I’m sure there must have been many signs before these people committed their crimes. The problem is how do we stop them from happening? There is a fine line between protecting the public from potential crimes and stomping of someone’s freedom. I don’t have the answer.

that’s why I think it’s a total set up, I mean how easily in today’s world the eschelon and cia and fbi have all our data, all our imprints are on everything, they can hone in on attack, and yet, they do nothing, why?? Because it’s big beauracracy calling the white flag for all of us, saying, look we were innocent too, it’s unfortunate, now we need more laws, more gun control, more power to the authorities. It’s fricking bull.

Anyway, thank you @malvok, for your input. I appreciate the conversation.
