What happens if you take too much antipsychotics?

like what if you took six milligrams of risperidone instead of 3, if that’s what would have been better for you? i know there’s probably more side effects that naturally comes with medication like that, but is there anything else that happens if you take too much?

i was taking a lot of latuda a couple years ago, and my anxiety attacks were terrible. i may have been taking too much. i think it was 80 mg but i dont remember for sure. now, i take 3mg of risperidone.

Hey, these are powerful drugs. I can’t describe what happens if you take too much of a certain drug because they are all different and everybody’s physiology is different so medications affect people differently. (which is why doctors prescribe different doses of the same medication for different people). All I know is that my best thinking made me take extra prolixen when I was on it to try to make me drowsy so I could sleep. My reasoning was that these drugs are sedating so they could be used as tranquilizers. (my IQ was once tested as -58).

Anyways, I was living by myself and bored out of my mind and I was tired and wired at the same time and I couldn’t fall asleep so I took extra pills and the effect was not what I planned at all. It did not put me to sleep but it sure made me feel terrible. That was 25 years ago though.

I take my medication exactly as prescribed since then but just about three years ago I accidentally doubled down on my nightly meds and took two doses of Resperidone. I can’t put into words how I felt except if it gotten even a tiny bit worse than it was I was seriously considering going to the hospital. I felt that bad, but I toughed it out and got a good nights sleep and felt “normal” the next morning.

These drugs are nothing to fool around with.

It depends. When I was on 9 mg of invega, I had a hard time getting out of bed. At 6 mg I could still function ok, but it wasn’t great. I still was having symptoms on it. I’ve never taken extra but I imagine it’s worse than skipping once or twice.

i sometimes forget how powerful these drugs are

I used to be on a huge dose of abilify I don’t think it was necessary sigh

Don’t do it unless your doctor approves!!! I once (intentionally) took too much Saphris and fell asleep sitting up with my computer in my lap. I woke up having bit a HOLE in my TONGUE and with a deep blood line on my leg from the computer. So not worth it!!!

Only take your prescribed dose, please.

Messing with medication on your own is very dangerous
