What happens if you skip a day of antipsychotics?

Will I become psychotic? I had more energy and less negative symptoms when without meds. Maybe I won’t get psychosis and have more energy at the same time for one day.

I wouldn’t skip with the symptoms you have described. Although the meds stay in your system but I try to take them everyday

if you skip several you would probably get some sort of rebound symptoms, or insomnia or whatever sides that come with discontinuing

When I miss a day I usually can’t sleep and feel a little bit more irritated.

A day wouldn’t really show the effects of what will happen off medication, 2-3 weeks would.

I become irritable and religious as soon as I miss a dose.

This has happened to me. I don’t get delusions really but I get a feeling of being disconnected with reality. If I go for three or more days the delusions come back. Haven’t gone that long without meds for a long time but I do miss a dose every couple of months or so and I always feel uncomfortable until I take my next dose.

My parents were against the idea so I just took my meds. They said to ask the psychiatrist but he will say no, I am pretty sure.

I think you should ask your doctor for a different med it sounds like your having a tough time on your current med. I’m on haldol it’s an older medication but I feel great and lost weight

Depends on the person. I can go a few weeks before I really decompensate. A few days is no big deal for me. I went a couple of days without blood thinners and had some mini-strokes.

I have an appointement with my psychiatrist tomorrow, I will ask him about Geodon.

The last time I skipped a dose is when my new delusion started, I think.

i think if you sell the pdoc on the idea of why geodon will be a better choice for you he will probably come around. its like going to an investors meeting lol

I occasionally miss a dose. It doesn’t seem to phase me though. The longest I went without my medication was about 5 or 6 days, about 7 years ago By the sixth day I started to feel the craziness creeping in.

be careful with the blood thinners. Just lost my dear landlady to a severe stroke caused by blood thinners. Deadly outcomes. Be warned.

Blood thinners don’t cause strokes, they prevent them as long as you take the prescribed doses. Accidentally missing doses is my biggest worry. Second biggest worry is bleeding while on them. Kidney stones and blood thinners are ERGH.

I had to skip 2 days of meds a few times when my grandmother refused to sleep, I got only insomnia, agitation and withdrawal symptoms.

Nothing really happens if i miss one or two doses. I’ve never really gone much longer than that so i can not prognosticate what would happen if I did. I’m sure it wouldn’t be good.
