Place marshmallows on a baking sheet. Set oven to Broil. Keep an eye on the marshmallows and rotate them as they brown. Allow them to brown (or burn if that’s what you’re into) as much as you like, then indulge.

They will melt, then brown, then burn. I suggest cooking the apple cake all the way, then adding marshmallows and putting the broiler on, watching them the entire time until why’re the exact shade of brown you want.
