@anon4362788. You’ve got a big family. What say ye? I know all purpose flour is one cos I like to bake.
Lentils. I like lentils soup.
Thanks for replying. I really appreciate it. I’m putting lentils on my grocery list now
@Aziz. Has your mother ever made baked tuna rolls? You pour cream of chicken soup over it.
baked beans in cans…vienna sausages if you can stomach them…I eat them with crackers…ramen noodles…we just boil the noodles and eat them with butter…don’t like the seasoning packets…
I love potted meat too. I know it’s made from yucky stuff but I still love it. If I can’t get potted meat Vienna sausages are the next best thing
@jukebox @Naarai I also love beans on toast which I learned about from our forum British friends
No but it sounds delicious. I know how to cook simple things. My mother cooks what’s on her mind, she doesn’t really listen to me.
Beans and rice are cheap and last a while
You’re right. That’s a great idea
I keep tomato stuff: tomato sauce, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, diced tomatoes w/chili’s. And I keep a few cans of chicken broth. Seems like a lot of recipes I like call for these.
I like to eat fresh fruit but I buy canned fruit or frozen fruit too because they are good if I’m in between shopping trips and I run out of fresh fruit.
Butter, milk, eggs.
Frozen or fresh vegatables too because they’re healthy.
Rice, dried beans, pasta.
I buy meat on sale and freeze it. If I see a great deal I’ll buy some chicken, pork, or even fish and divide it up into portions and put a portion or two in a quart freezer bag and freeze it until I need it. It will last several weeks.
I like to keep cottage cheese or yogurt in the refrigerator. It can be healthy.
Breakfast often gets boring. I get tired of cold cereal or oatmeal every day so I might buy a different type of hot cereal. Grits come to mind, or Cream of Wheat.
Every two weeks I might change it up and make pancakes or waffles from scratch. Those are easy; basically flour, milk, baking powder, sugar and an egg or two. And I always have that stuff already in my cupboard. So syrup is a staple too.
Peanut butter, ramen, canned goods, etc
That’s great info thanks!
