What does the word schizophrenia mean? Honestly I don’t like the way the word sounds.
Split mind is literally what it means
Thanks…
what does the word schizoaffective mean. Also what does the words bi polar mean?
I like how the word sounds. it’s a Greek word and it’s beautiful.
Bipolar means the poles are two. Like the north and south pole. Schizoaffective means split emotion, feeling, emotion. Honestly it sounds like a good description of me (schizoaffective)

It means split personality.
No it doesnt mean split personality
Does it mean “A splitting of the mind”
Yes but that’s not what the illness actually is. It’s just a name because they don’t actually know what the illness is.
According to dictionary, Schizophrenia means:
schizophrenia
ˌskɪtsə(ʊ)ˈfriːnɪə/Submit
noun
noun: schizophrenia
a long-term mental disorder of a type involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion, and behaviour, leading to faulty perception, inappropriate actions and feelings, withdrawal from reality and personal relationships into fantasy and delusion, and a sense of mental fragmentation.
(in general use) a mentality or approach characterized by inconsistent or contradictory elements.
"Gibraltar’s schizophrenia continues to be fed by colonial pride"
Origin
That’s as far as they know from the outside. They don’t actually know what’s happening inside.
Also you should probably use a medical dictionary instead.
What does mental fragmentation mean.
I think mental fragmentation means “Breaking of mind into fragments” .It’s a feeling experienced by the sufferer.
I wonder if schizophrenia means being psychotic, because schizo probably means something similar. I’m going to google that.
I looked up wickapedia (spelling) with the word schizo and it said it means split. But it also said as of 2013 it means something else. I don’t know how to like pastes things on this site so I don’t remember the new definition. I wonder how a mind can split.
The word ‘schizophrenia’ was invented in 1910. It comes from two Greek words, ‘schizo’ which means split and ‘phren’ which means mind. It’s literal translation is ‘split mind.’ Prior to this there was another name, ‘Dementia Praecox’ which was first used in 1891. I don’t like any of the words and hope someone comes up with a better one soon…
Maybe a split mind means psycho.
I don’t like “split mind” cause it makes it sound like DID which is basically split personality but they are not the same thing.
I just confused myself did I make sense?
In Japan, I believe they call it “integration disorder” and some people like that better. They call it that because our symptoms are a sign that we aren’t integrating with our surroundings properly.
