What does having a “mood disorder” mean? My psychiatrist mentioned I have a mood disorder and that’s why I’m on 900mg of Lithium. This seems vague. Does anyone else have this “diagnosis”, and if so, what does it mean?
I technically have schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type. This typically involves some aspects of a mood disorder…i frequently experience depression and sometimes get hypomanic (usually showing up as grandiosity and irritability). It’s considered a mood disorder if it affects your day to day functioning.
It usually means your moods go up and down, unpredictably.
everytime i have a good mood i eventually have mood disorder. its usually confusion. since i cant read and i have problems understanding i develope OCD positive symptoms.
It means that you have significant mood symptoms, like mania or depression or both.
Bipolar is considered a mood disorder and Schizophrenia is considered a thought disorder
SZA is a little bit of both but could be considered a mood disorder because it has some aspects of either bipolar or depression
I have a hard time seeing the mood component in my sza. They said I have bipolar subtype. I always feel really depressed all the time. I lost a lot of functioning.
Your depression is the mood component of your illness. @tony1969
