I work on the railway; customer services. I’m signed off sick at the moment and will leave in the near future.
My aim is to lose weight , get stronger physically and get a job where I don’t have to speak to the general public.

I would normally do secretarial work
But I cannot work paid because of schiz so I do volunteer work
It sucks but it’s the best I can do

I haven’t worked for quite some time due to sza but I’ve always had this inkling to become a locksmith. Who knows. We’ll see.

How does that work? Do you need to do an apprenticeship?

I work retail, but would prefer a job where I interact with the general public less. I’ve always wondered about disability but not sure if I qualify since I’m relatively high functioning, anyone have any tips? Did you apply for disability yourself or hire a lawyer?

You can do an apprenticeship but in my state you don’t need to be certified or even bonded. A lot just teach themselves. But an apprenticeship would be a faster route.

you should try to talk to your boss about working less shifts/hours or having an assistant. if possible, plan on getting a promotion or another job with more breaks, less shifts, or less interaction.

getting disability is hard.

I work at a paper mill, and hopefully soon I will be a shift supervisor, or at the least a back-up shift supervisor. I should find out tomorrow.

Good luck with the promotion! I hope you celebrate in style.

I think that would be interesting and low-stress - a winning combination for people like us.

I work six hours a day, five days a week, as a Special Education Assistant. I get all holidays off, as well as two weeks at Christmas, one week in the Fall and Spring, and two months off in the summer. I make just enough money to pay my bills each month and my husband pays the rent and utilities and most of our groceries. I’m really lucky.
The kids are so needy that they take my mind off of myself. It’s perfect for me.
