Quit smoking
Taking COq10 supplements are good for your heart.
hey @Wave…what is in COq10…see im vegan so have to know what i ingest
bob harper the celebrity trainer just switched to a plant based diet after his unexpected heart attack. vegans have lower rates of heart disease I think.
im mostly plant based but I eat fish when lifting weights.
for me I have a smoothie for breakfast
can of fish after my workout
then a big salad and a bean and pea medley for dinner.
I don’t think im at risk for any heart disease eating this way, my only sources of cholesterol are from the fish and I allow myself some cheese on my salad and butter on my beans, but I don’t overdue it…and again I exercise daily. my calories are about 1000-1500 day
If you’ve been vegan for a while your heart should be ok. You can also eat oatmeal or oats
Avocado in moderation
Purple fruit and vegetables are associated with longer life spans.
hawthorn berry is good for blood pressure and other things for the heart i take 2 grams daily
Garlic and onions are excellent for heart health. They move fats out of the blood stream and help lower bad cholesterol.
Are you a strict vegan? Like you don’t snack on potato chips et cetera?
Something I love is a veggie/fruit combo with various spices that I whip up in my ninja blender. I like the ninja over a juicer as you can ingest the nutritious fibrous material. Just my thoughts.
It’s not really that there’s things specifically good for your heart, it’s what is not BAD for your heart lol.
I’ve been doing a lot of reading on it lately. If you really want to be heart healthy, the diet is not fun. Easy changes to make are cut out vegetable oils in your cooking and use olive oil, peanut oil, or any oil made from edible plants. (Most vegetable oils are made from cottonseed! They used to use cottonseed oil to shine shoes and stuff!) Avoiding vegetable oils in foods is way harder because it’s in literally everything processed.
Excess amount of sugar are also very damaging. You’re not supposed to have more than like 100 g of sugar a day if you’re having health issues. By the way carbohydrates turn directly to sugar in your body, so that doesn’t just mean cutting out sweets and sodas, but cutting down on carbs as well! You can probably safely cut out carbs entirely considering even things like meat and dairy have some amount of sugar in them. (You still need sugar as it’s the only form of energy your brain can use, but too much of it is toxic-it is very rare in nature so we only evolved to need a small amount of it)
Smoking is a major cause of heart disease along with the excess consumption of vegetable oils and sugar mentioned above. Excessive alcohol use is also bad for your heart, but a glass of red wine has antioxidants to help promote heart health. Vegetables have plenty of antioxidants as well that help protect your tissues from damage. Make sure to eat a variety and get all the colors. Fruits are not actually all that good for you, it’s like eating candy with some vitamins added. You can get all the vitamins you need and more from vegetables, protein, etc.
Saturated fat or cholesterol is not actually bad for your heart as recently discovered, so long as you have it in moderation and not an excessive amount, so sort of the same deal as with sugar, you need it, but in moderation. Trans fats and polyunsaturated fats such as those found in vegetable oils, margarine, etc, are very damaging. Salt is actually only bad if you already have heart problems. A normal body can easily eliminate and process excess amounts of salt, but a damaged heart cannot deal with the fluid imbalance this causes and can lead to serious issues, so if you already have heart disease, cutting down on salt in foods is a serious change that needs to be made.
Exercise is extremely good for your heart. It can help strengthen your heart if you do cardio, 30 minutes a day is recommended. I try to at least do 5 days a week when I’m on top of it.
I didn’t know until I watched a special about Native Americans that there is a type of purple corn
Lebanese eggplant
is really
yummy
Apparently the stuff that makes them purple is really good for our health. So it’s not just one of those silly rules about food colors. But I don’t eat a lot od purple fruits and vegetables even though I love them. I should start buying them more.
Watermelon seeds are supposed to be good. But they’re hard to chew
I heard people are healthy If they live watermelon…for all the fatties
Yes, CoQ10 may support heart health. You may want to look into a form that is water and fat-soluble for better absorption. A vegan diet may also be low in CoQ10. If you are looking for a supplement that is vegan, check the supplement label to make sure it does not contain animal ingredients and also review with your doctor.
