Drugs was the ticket for me.

For me it was a trauma, suddenly, but too late my dad has been diagnosed with cancer and died of it.
Sleep is also very important, too less sleep can provoke a psychosis, too.
Also drugs can trigger a psychosis, in hoffers book i read about self experiments of the staff in the 50s / 60s with lsd-25, leading to mood change, perceptual changes leading to a drug-induced psychosis.
Too much coffee should be avoided, too, it does not trigger schizophrenia itself imho, though.
For me it was a mixture of social anxiety, drug use and the pressures of becoming an adult.
