What art supplies

Are easiest to start with. Ì want to try to create something but I have nothing and I’m pretty sure I’m getting some for Christmas from my daughter.
I don’t want to do it electronically. Ì already have too much screen time.
I don’t know if pencil or chalk or oil or watercolour or any other mediums are best for beginners.
Any suggestions?

Out of those options, I would say pencil. :pencil2::pencil2::pencil2:

Since your daughter is artistic I would recommend Coloring pencils/ coloring pens and a drawing book and or a few good adult styled coloring books. Like below :

Also pen’s or Pencil have to have a good variety of colors to pick and use from

If you want color variety, look no further than Prismacolor brand colored pencils. Only down side is they are very expensive. :rose::rose::rose:

I used to draw in pencil and for a while i had a set of colored pens. Both were pretty simple to use and i would recommend either. I got a lot of my stuff at Michael’s, but i don’t know if you have that in Canada.

Acrylic paint dries within minutes and is fun to paint with…but you would still have to sketch on the canvas…good painting !!

I am currently enjoying Staedler Triplus Fineliner markers. Perfect for journaling or handwriting.

I like Aqua Noir and Spectrum Noir but they are pricey.

I have a ton of crayola pencils and crayons. and I’m not happy with them. I used up the black and bought a single high end black colored pencil. Boy, what a difference between Crayola and Prismacolor.

Watercolor pencils and crayons are fun too.

For paper I’d buy a general all purpose that is good for both markers (won’t bleed) and watercolors. Mixed media paper is ok, but there is better types out there.

With color pencils you have to work more to fill the paper. So I vote for acrylics.

I think watercolours are hard to do right, espcially if you’re a perfectionist and want things to look good. Acrylics are easier to get a good result with.
