I know that we don’t really have it on these forums as certain topics are taboo.
However this is to people in other countries as I’ve heard some ridiculous things like just saying the n word can get you 9 months in jail in Great Britain. Unless you have a disability then you don’t go to jail. First off no freedom of speech. Secondly you have people with disabilities with more rights than people without. I guess I can find the video where I got that from if needed.
Anyway I was just wondering if people from other countries care. It seems that in the US there is a side that pushing to take away freedom of speech from anything they deem hate speech and will use violence to back it up. I have a feeling they may win so I am wondering if it feels bad if you don’t have a freedom or if you get used to it.
There’s no such thing as free speech. And I agree with much of it. Much of it might not bother me but it causes anymositu and hate , resulting in hate crimes. Something needs to be done.
But that said banning nursery rhymes because they have understones linking to race or banning jello babies cos they seem racist now that’s gone too far.
I am very much in favor of free speech. Sometimes I think we give ideas a power when we try to censor them that they might not have had if we hadn’t tried to censor them. I keep thinking of the students rioting at Berkely when Mr. Yinannopolis wanted to come speak there. The rioting students looked like the thugs, and Mr. Yianopolis looked like the man of reason. I would say there are extremes of hate speech which might need to be suppressed, like Nazi skinheads marching through a Jewish suburb. Also, I’m a little leery of people making direct verbal assaults on the Muslim religion, because it is inevitable that violence will erupt if they directly criticize that religion. We just need to find ways to criticize Islam that the Muslims can’t object to, like maybe criticizing their shocking need to punish people in cruel and unusual ways. They still might riot when we did that, but they would have a harder time defending their beliefs to themselves. While I am appalled by the lack of tolerance on the part of the Muslims, I will say in their defense that I have seen Christians get extremely angry when someone openly criticizes that religion. I’ve heard more than one person say that the antidote to stupid and corrupt speech isn’t censorship, but speech that is clear and well thought out. We need to get these dangerous ideas out in the open where people can criticize them. That is the essence of freedom of speech - getting peoples’ bad ideas into the open where they can be put down by good ideas.
People hide their racism behind words like “free speech” or by saying the other side is “violent”. These statistics show a much different picture. Anti-white crimes don’t break more than 800 while anti-african-american reaches thousands.
Also anti-jewish and anti-arab are the highest in hate crimes with religious motivation.
This all sounds like the work of hate groups like nazis and kkk. They don’t believe in freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is just a tool to spread propaganda. And the funny thing is, your subconscious mind is influenced by things you hear and see. The more you hear and see it, the more you believe it.
These people don’t deserve freedom of speech imo. They are the truly violent ones.
I’m for free speech in public spaces. This site isn’t a public space. I do intend to keep irritating everyone by pointing out that anyone who has ever changed diapers knows there are only two genders, no matter what kind of fines are brought forth for expressing common knowledge.
Well you know they say the only person who truly knows you is yourself. Mind reading is a logical fallacy. None of us are perfect so how can we tell someone who they really are?
It’s impossible to have 100% free speech. You can’t sit in a crowded theater and watch a movie and then yell, “Fire!” in the middle of it. If Trump comes to your town to give a speech, you can’t yell, F*** you" in a lull in the speech. But if you want to see free speech in action than watch Bill Mahr’s cable TV show “Politically Incorrect”. Or Steve Colbert’s show. These guys push the limits and say things on hot box political issues that would surely get them jailed or even killed in other countries. Free speech often means that there’s a time and place for everything and it’s all about timing.
Anybody can sit in their room with a friend and use every racial slur ever invented and nothing will happen to them. But if you’re on TV the situation is a little different.
I think it was some famous comic who said, “Hell, I like it when all these unhinged, unstable racists come on TV and promote their warped views on race. Because then I know exactly where these people are and I will never go near them. The louder the better. It’s the guys who quietly plot hate crimes in their backyard with friends at a barbecue, those are the scariest people.”
Yeah but I meant more on the inside. I could care less about the biological sex. They always go around saying “I feel like a boy” or “I feel like a girl”.
You’re okay with telling people who they are on the inside with what you see on the outside?
Free speech = all those protesting the election win of Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton the day after. Crowds with signs, “I want my vote back” or “Trump hate not love” etc… It happened in LA and NY.
Limits on speech should be made extremely judiciously, for we’ll go down a slippery slope.
When I joined the U.S. military I took a solemn oath to, among other things, protect and defend the U.S. Constitution against enemies foreign and domestic.
The !st Amendment, with few exceptions, prevents government retribution against citizens’ speech. The unpopular speech.

Well that table was interesting I would’ve thought that the number of anti-white hate crimes would’ve been higher based on population. Also it was strangely reassuring that the number seemed kinda low for a population of 300,000,000(although don’t judge me based on this as I don’t know a good number for the number of crimes so as to determine what is low.).
I wonder what doesn’t get reported if that would skew things in a different direction or not. I didn’t get a job based on my mental condition and I didn’t report it as it was the government stuff like that.
A lot of the anti-black crime could be black on black crime. At least that is how it is for the murders in chicago.
@shutterbug I used to care more about the genders debate until I decided that since they have literally over a 1000 genders right now that they just want the word to mean nothing. Everything is in there from a gender where you love children. To a gender where you aren’t in this universe anymore. I don’t remember them all but someone was going over some of them. It is easier to not care when you realize they just want it to mean nothing. Because if everything is a gender then nothing is.
