What are the chances of a rogue employee at the pharmacy pocketing my pregabalin?

2 months ago half my pregabalin was missing out of my prescription box. This month I was supposed to get 112 tablets but when my folks went to pick it up they said they only have 28 in stock and we should pick up the balance today.

My dad went in today and now they say they have no record of the prescription on their system.

Something feels off.

Pregabalin is a scheduled drug I think so my alarm bells are ringing. What do you guys think?

If this is the second time, something is definitely fishy. Ask to speak to a manager and share your concerns. They should definitely be investigating this.

In the UK Pregabalin is not a scheduled drug, but it is a prescription only medicine, there is Pregabalin being sold on the street, so it must be coming from somewhere.

That is super suspect.

I remember when you posted about it the first time,

It seemed strange then, but still like a mistake,

This is weird.

Doesn’t seem like a drug that is commonly abused,

However, it can be, I guess.

Definitely contact whoever runs that pharmacy, like a corporate office.

So my mum went in and spoke to them. It was all different staff on shift. They said according to their computer the full amount was dispensed. Obviously it wasn’t and I don’t think my 66 year old t-total mother is lying.

They pharmacist on duty said due to the nature of the med she will have to speak to the original pharmacist and pharmacy staff. My mum won’t take this lying down as she was the one to obtain the 28 tablets at the weekend. She feels her reputation is being questioned.

Would be crazy if someone is pocketing these meds. We don’t know though. Maybe it was an innocent mistake. I can’t say at this point.

Is a hassle I could do without.

Wow, can you switch pharmacies for next time? If you can’t, and this ever happens again, whoever picks up the prescription should demand in writing a receipt indicating how many were dispensed, by whom, and why.

Will definitely move pharmacies. This whole thing is ridiculous. I also forgot to say they got a prescription done in between the pregabalin wrong as well. They dispensed 120 quetiapine instead of 112. Is kinda shocking.

Am stressed they are going to think me and my mum have made all this up in drug seeking behaviour.

Yeah, I don’t blame you. It is suspicious. It could be a mistake, but then they’ve also got a competence problem since it’s happened twice, to you. Chances are if someone is stealing drugs it’s also happening to others though.

At first I thought you sounded paranoid, but this does seem fishy. Maybe you could take this up with pharmacist. Be assertive, not aggressive.

This has happened to me a few times at my local hometown pharmacy. For me the answer was calling the pdoc and having the nurse straighten things out.

I went without xanax for a few weeks because the pharmacy messed up and I didn’t want to look like I was drug seeking by going back in to tell them they made a mistake. Ended up with sx and had to call the nurse to tell the pdoc and then everything was fixed.

Yes, I second the assertiveness.
