What age were you when you got schizophrenia and what triggered it.
For me it was marijuana use at 23. I was smoking everyday.

I had a drug store job. I was 19 when I developed sz. I managed to keep going on until 22_23.

@roxanna were you doing drugs and thats what caused the schizophrenia/psychosis? Im just wondering cause you were working at a drug store

I think it was drugs. 19. I’m 32 and I still think a lot of people are watching me.

It’s difficult for me to pinpoint the age where I first started having symptoms but my first signs of psychosis started in my early 40’s. It was brought on by work and personal stress it would seem.

I was 23. Was doing drugs too. Marijuana, liquor and speed.

I was 25 when I first got diagnosed
I think I had sz since I was born but it got worse with time until I got diagnosed with psychosis at 21y.o.

No I wasn’t on drugs. Several of my family members were sz.

With me it was when I was 16 years old, when I was sleeping poorly and eating junk food, first the negative symptoms came and then the positive symptoms.

I had my first hallucination when I was 9 or 10, then I had delusions when I was 14-15. But I didn’t get diagnosed until I was 47. I lived like that most of my life, unmedicated, and fighting my way through it.

I was psychotic for many months before medication and diagnose. I was admitted to mental hospital at 19, diagnosed at 20. I turnef 20 at hospital. I have never done any drugs. My doctor at the mental hospital told me I will always be sick and I can never live a normal life.

Was it the drugs that destroyed my mind or schizophrenia? Was it both? The hard facts are this:I used pcp laced Maryjane and bad fake LSD and had psychosis and was admitted to a hospital at age sixteen. When I got out of a long hospital stay I went to NA and quit drugs for a year. When I relapsed I drank, and used pot and cocaine laced pot no more than 6 times. I went back to NA and stayed clean and sober until spring of 1992 when I got even sicker with schizophrenia and began drinking again. I had been mentally well for five years except for a few mild symptoms. I drank until December 1995 when I relapsed on pot five times. I quit drugs and alcohol once more until 2003 and I would have about 24 beers a year until a couple of years ago when I quit totally. Unless the illegal drugs can have a delayed effect of five years, then no, it was not the dope. I was born with sza. I heard and saw things my whole life, I just never thought much about it and I was extraordinarily happy as a child, very spiritual, until I entered adulthood and my imagination went south.

At age 31 is when I had my break. I was prodromal since age 26-27.

I was 19 when I started showing symptoms. Drove away everyone close to me.

Prodome started for me when I was about 17. Started taking supplements for the illness right away, think that may be why I’m still sort of in the prodome at age 24.
