A moment ago, I decided to view the site information here. A cookie from Scorecard Research was set as I viewed the forum.
What the heck is Scorecard Research???
"When a browser loads a page that contains a ScorecardResearch web beacon, a cookie will be set. This, says comScore, allows it to observe “browser-level” behaviour, i.e. how often you return to a website or if, having visited one website, you go to another one that is related. The data that is collected is used to build up reports on internet behaviour and trends. ScorecardResearch’s privacy policy says its tracking will collect information such as:
when your browser visited a website
what page of the website it was
the title of the web page
IP address"
Very discomforting… Or maybe I’m being stupid. How safe do you guys feel here?
maybe if we are being tracked it is for good reasons
i read wrong i just looked up what scorecard research is and now i wonder if they want use to do stuff to make them money
It could just be normal website trafficking, like they have to make sure people don’t download films etc illegally! But I don’t know much about that sort of stuff!
Good points. But what exactly does “normal website trafficking” and all that really consist of? Is it really just innocent, impersonal data?
I want to believe that.
But even posting this, I feel like that’s it. Now I’ve done it. Now the NSA, or whatever, has me on file as being paranoid and questioning things.
I am not overly concerned with being monitored. They want to optimize your experience to make money from products you may like. No big deal to me. I feel my entire internet is personalized just for me because I have really bad Truman Show delusion so stuff like them researching me is no big deal.
