I haven’t had a therapist in like 2.5 years or so.
Well, I had a video chat with one a couple weeks ago.
Three weird things happened:
- She was asking about different areas of life and how my illness affects it on a scale of “not much-very much”, anyways, she asked about how it affects my cognitive function and I asked her to explain to me what cognitive means…. So instead of explaining, she just says “with that response I’m gonna say it affects you very much”. I thought that was rude.
- She listed off “caffeine, narcotic drugs and alcohol” and asked if I was consuming any of them… I told her “caffeine, yeah” she says “nuh uh, you’re pregnant, you can’t have caffeine”
I tried explaining to her that none of my women’s health doctors have ever told me to completely cut out caffeine… also that the Internet said anything below 200mg is okay. She just ignored me and was like, “you can have mushroom coffee, ginger and honey tea…” - She also asked “who is helping you while your husband is gone?” I said, “myself”… she just laughed and scoffed…. As if it isn’t possible..
really?
Anyways, I thought the whole first interaction was weird and like she really didn’t like me already.. I decided after our appointment I did not feel comfortable venting to her about anything…. So, I contacted the company or whatever and had them give me a new therapist.. hopefully this one will come across as less judgemental or whatever.
I have an appointment with this new one Friday.
