Weighted blanket against PTSD

Did anyone try a weighted blanket? I am thinking of getting one. A friend’s kid (autism, ADD) is helped by it. I have also read weighted blankets help PTSD, anxiety, insomnia. I always make a pile of blankets on top of me for heaviness, if I’m anxious or having a flashback. I’m quite okay now, but waking up can still be tough. Maybe this helps.

Any positive experiences?

I tried one. Having the extra weight press down on me literally made me crazy (sensory disorder). I don’t understand how they say these work for people on the spectrum as my two close friends who are Aspies also hated the weighted blanket as much as I did.

Thanks, you both.

I have sensory issues as well, especially with touch. So I’ll try one, before I buy. I’m still not officially on the spectrum (somehow :)), but still. I’ll be careful.

Mr. Star adores his. I think it’s the sensory thing, how some people’s are over active and some people’s are under active. I like compression and he hates it. idk.

I tried a weighted blanket for awhile. It was good, not sure how much it worked for my anxiety, but I wasn’t turned off by it. Ultimately, it was too small of a blanket for my liking so I switched back to a normal, larger blanket.

Thanks, ninjastar and tulane. It may be the hypo/hypersensitivity thing. I saw a very cheap second hand one, that I may try, and then resell if it’s useless for me. It’s cheaper than renting one.

Probably. The one friend is a local photographer. We stay well apart from each other on shoots as each makes the other nuts, LOL.
