I’m switching to abilify monotherapy. How was it for weight. Did you gain or lose? How much?
I took Abilify for about one year and didn’t notice any excessive weight gain.
I did not gain or lose any weight on Abilify.
I’m really surprised more people haven’t tried abilify.
I stopped having an eating disorder when I started abilify, and stopped working out, abilify made me more secure about myself…but still I only gained about 20 pounds.
I’m on abilify 15 mg now as I’ve slowly titrated up, and I’ve lost about 15 lbs, all of it gained while on seroquel.
I dont believe it matters… Whatever kinda pills we on we gonna gain weight. The only way to lose weight i believe is excersise and drive
I lost a lot of weight while I was on Abilify.
But I watched what I ate and exercised also.
Abilify gave me a huge appetite and I gained over 20 kilos. My doctor insisted the weight gain wasn’t due to Abilify but after I switched to other meds my binge-eating stopped abruptly and I’ve lost 10 kilos.
Abilify also caused sleepishness, shaking hands, and tardive dyskinegia so it wasn’t the right med for me at all.
I think I’ve gained 4 lbs, so in the scheme of things not to bad. I’m so much more active now that I work up an appetite and its tough not to overeat.
I’ve lost a little weight each month since I’ve been on abilify.
I stay stable, weight wise on it, but it’s a battle at times.
I’ve lost a few pounds on abilify.
Weight gain side effect is common to most anti psychotics. But abilify has a rare, weight loss side effect which manifests early in the treatment in the initial dose titration period. This can be easily detected. The weight loss stops after some time on it’s own. If it didn’t stop you may have to stop the drug. This side effect is not common to all people taking abilify. Only some people get it.
