Wear sunscreen

I think I can safely say, sunscreen is important.
Wear sunscreen or you’ll end up like me. Let me tell you how my day started.
Woke up at 8:25 from the pain in my back due to the sleeping position I’m forced to take and the extra strain any kind of movement puts on it. The skin on my legs felt so tight I had to take a couple of minutes to slowly bend them. Then I carefully swung one leg down from the bed, and sat in pain for a few minutes as the fluids filled my already swollen ancles and knees, and then I did the same with the other leg. As I got used to the pain, I slowly stood up, although I had to stay in a bent-over position for a few minutes as straightening up put too much weight on my legs.
As I got up, which took me about 10 minutes, I took the smallest steps you can imagine, basically by wobbling from side to side until my legs lifted and I could swing them forward, and once I got moving I had to keep making baby steps, as even a few seconds of standing still would cause my leg skin to tighten and even more fluid to fill my legs.
I carefully checked my body for blisters. Yep, new ones on both my left arm and my right leg. I have a 10x5cm patch on my right leg that is filled with them.

And did I mention that despite using lotion, my face feels mummified? Removing the sleep from my eyes was a pain.

All this because I figured going to a Greek beach without sunscreen wasn’t any less dangerous than a Scandinavian one.

Save yourself a lot of pain, wear sunscreen. It’s not hard, and it doesn’t take long to apply. It’s pure laziness not to wear it. If you can’t afford sunscreen, wear light clothes that cover your skin, or spend a lot of time in the shadow.
Nobody is immortal.

At this rate I’ll have skin cancer by the time I’m 35.

So everyone, WEAR SUNSCREEN.

Yes, sunscreen is very important.

I’m sorry to hear about your misfortune and sunburns.

I think lotions with the herb aloe vera in them are supposed to be soothing for sunburns.

Take care. :sunflower:

Ouch, that sounds painful. That is a hard way to learn that lesson.

Reminded me of this:

I would probably wear it now. But as a teenager it was rare and we were at the beach a couple times a week sometimes. I grew up in California and having a tan was required by law. Having pale skin during summer was a misdemeanor punishable by two weeks in jail and a $100 fine.

Are you kidding or it was a true story?

Uh, kidding.,.,., Skin color does not get you punished by the law unless you’re a black person or a hispanic person trying to crash a party at Ann Coulters house.

It’s necessary out here. Our sun really bites especially in summer and my volunteer job is out in the sun and I play too much cricket out. Mind you growing up as kids people used to put coconut oil on to get a tan when it was so popular. Nothing is healthy about a tan is current thought and also wear a hat and long sleeves if possiblle.
