Normal people are able to express themselfs better then us, especially in the arts, they are able to somehowe understand how things work.
What separetes us from them in the arts? What part of this illness, and why this illness it separate us when we’re symptoms free?
What? What? What?
We have richer inner lifes, more turmoil and anguish inside, we seen things which others see on tv, we lived them in our delusional states.
So why can’t a person with this illness isn’t able to put those experineces into writing, paintings, music, and do it so good that millions of people find it amazing, and why most of schizoprenic art remains in the underground scene?
We need new insight on our own illness, new insight and somehow new perspectives from the outside of our own illness.
We should be able to see past the illness at least a few moments so we can understand how other people see things.
Because we are biased by it. We can only study normal people mechanical, because truly being normal is a almost an impossible mission.
And after we studied them, we can compare they’re outlook to our own outlook, they’re perspective to our own and see where we can improve our self expression
I’ve written seven short stories, but only a couple are about mental illness. One is about this mentally ill guy who is dumped on the street with no support right after he used up his thirty days of free rent at an assisted living center.
It’s almost a cliche how many writers, painters, and composers were mentally ill. Most of them were badly maladjusted. The great artist Vincent Van Gogh was totally crazy. He cut off part of his ear and gave it to a prostitute. He gave us some great art, though. The immanent philosopher Frederick Nietszche once said, “One must have chaos in their soul in order to give birth to a dancing star.” There are all kinds of stories about writers, painters, and composers being badly maladjusted. Sometimes they were hard to like. But in cases like both them and us it is better to place “principles before personalities” and get ready to be shocked and amazed.
I guess I disagree, mine, art,
plus so many who preceded me
have done works
that most people can love and appreciate.
if they’re ‘different’ doesn’t mean it
isn’t good or discarded.
my schizophrenia has never gotten in the way.
