Waste of time

I was thinking about the concept of wasted time.
Like what someone considers to be a waste of time. Everyone has a different view on what constitutes a waste of time.

For one person, playing video games is a waste of time because they prefer to go walking at the park. Another thinks walking the park is a waste of time when they can just get in their exercise at the gym. Another thinks mountain biking is waste of time because they would rather be reading a novel. Another thinks reading novels is waste when they prefer to play hockey. and on and on it goes.

Opinions, views and values seem to dictate the preferences.

A curious question your raise. I do a lot of things to occupy time but I don’t necessarily consider them wasting it. It’s more I like something to do and keep going. I don’t get bored really so I am pretty happy with that and existing accordingly. I would agree. What works for you will not work for others.

Was chatting with an opinionated person recently lol. thus the curiosity

I’m an existential nihilist. I wear black turtlenecks, and I view my life as a waste of time. :expressionless:

LOL! Just kidding!

But yeah I mean it’s all relative. Some people might view my interests and passions as a waste. But they make me happy and I’m rarely bored.

I was called a waste of space in high school.

Opinions are like azzholes and everyone has one.

I agree with @Montezuma some things I do people will say that they are a waste. Cigars and pipe smoking are no doubt heavily scrutinized. People may laugh at me because I am a Civil War buff. Huh? I enjoy vinyl records. Some people will say they sound the same as digital music.

Some people like consumption based interests while others prefer creative pursuits. It’s all relative though. And you eventually reach an age where you don’t give a flying frick what people think about you.

Amen to that

There is a quote from a good book that says”Moderation in all things.” Or maybe my grandmother told it to me

I like the way vinyl sounds.

Digital music, while I still enjoy it, seems to be a little flat. Vinyl has a more full sound. Imho.

I enjoy listening to people who can actually sing. Like Ill Divo. Josh Groban. Charlotte Church. People like Tiffany and NKOTB were one hit wonders I guess.

Binge eating is a waste of my time, it sets me back :unamused:

I plan not to do it anymore.

@dreamer54. I was in choir in school from like the 6th to the 12th grade. And some college. I also sang in the episcopal church on 125$/month scholarship while in college

Around here if you can read music you have a spot in the local orchestra´s choir, which is paid (around 125/month aswell I think) and you are able to sing very nice tunes.

There’s a guy from West Virginia USA who’s a jazz musician semi-famous. Bob Thompson. I love jazz too. I don’t know specific artists names or anything. I only know like Louis Armstrong and such. I also like Swing music :notes: like from the 40s.
