About two days ago I had a package show up on my doorstep addressed to a house 2 blocks away to someone I’ll call Jane.
There was a blue sticky note covering her address with mine written on it and the word ‘deliver’
My security cameras show a postal worker delivering it- so I call the postal service and ask them to take it back since it is not mine and I’m suspicious it may be harassment.
( this ‘Jane’ may be the same person who made threats against me last year and has been telling people shes my friend when she indeed is not my friend- and just a ex coworker i had asked cooperate to separate me from )
The postal service says they will come get it- its been two days and they haven’t.
So not wanting to touch the package again since its starting to scare me I called the police department to come get it.
They came and got it about 30 minutes ago but they looked at me like I was completely insane and scolded me for not taking it to the post office myself ( i do not drive, i told them. - they told me i could’ve walked it there… ) I had been afraid to touch it because I dont know whats in it and if it could be harmful to me or why its got a sticky note with my address on it when thats not an official way to redeliver according to the postal services customer service line
Was I way off and being too paranoid or did i handle it like i shouldve?
I’m glad its off my doorstep so I can stop worrying about it but I feel like the local police are going to think im nuts now.
I guess I should’ve done that… I do know my reason for not doing that was paranoia lol…
I did call them again after to let them know its no longer here and they seemed surprised it hadn’t been picked up.
Did you think it was a bomb or anthrax or something? It’s not likely someone would mail those things to an ordinary citizen. I think you over reacted a little but if you were legitimately scared I guess it’s good that you trusted your instincts and called the police. it turns out you were probably wrong and you might have to deal with the consequences of what the police think of you but if you were legitimately scared it was good to play it safe.
I thought it could be fentanyl … A little out there still, yes. However ‘Jane’ who it appeared to be from is a heavy drug user and had tried to hit me with their car a few months back. ( i wasnt the only one there so I can confirm she did speed at us while in a cross walk. )
But all that beside- the police probably didnt open it but if the officer who side eyed me and picked up the box is alive and well right now I was being very paranoid with that assumption
Maybe you overreacted a little bit I’ve done stuff like this. If it was me I don’t think I would have called the cops. The package and history seems concerning though.
