I have a small swirly bump on my forearm I am getting checked out. it’s not black or brown…just white skin but want to get it seen early. kind of nervous…I’ve never had any cancer cut off me before…hope I don’t have to be put under…anyone know?
They use an injection in your skin to numb the area and they just slice it off if it’s cancerous
I had a bump that was 1cm taken off to check for skin cancer.
They inject lidocaine a few times, let it get numb, and use a punch tool to cut around it they pull tool off and snip the bottom of the cut area to remove the bump.
Then you get a stitch or two.
well that’s good to know…thanks both of you…
Good luck! Keep us updated
yes, I will…I see him in an hour.
They’ll numb the area, you’ll barely feel it taken off. They might tell you at your first appointment that they know it’s not cancer. If they take a biopsy the results could take a few days. I’ve had three or four weird bumps sliced or frozen off and none of them were cancerous.
went for nothing…they wanted a fifty dollar copay which I didn’t have…so rescheduled for early next month…thanks everyone.
I’m sorry @jukebox . I thought medicaid didn’t come with $50 copays???
Same. Never heard of that
I have medicare and it is a specialist so I have a copay. didn’t expect it either.
But if you get food stamps, you also qualify for Medicaid. Why don’t you have Medicaid in addition to Medicare?
they said I didn’t qualify to receive both…I d k really.
You don’t necessarily qualify for Medicaid if you qualify for food stamps in my experience
I know for sure in Michigan, the income limit is higher for Medicaid than it is for food stamps. The one year I qualified for Medicaid, my income was still too high for food stamps. I can check for @jukebox . Is he in Oklahoma?
yes I’m in Oklahoma…our governor probably blocked it.
SNAP benefits income limit for a family of 2 is $23,803 per year. Soonercare, Oklahoma’s Medicaid, has a monthly income limit of $2,136 for a family of 2, which comes to $25,632 per year. That means it’s easier to get Medicaid in Oklahoma than it is to get SNAP @FreeLunch. @jukebox , you should apply again because if you get SNAP benefits, you qualify for Soonercare. You’re not getting all the benefits you qualify for.
Good work you’re right sorry for giving misinformation I have encountered people who have made these claims though in the past where it’s like food stamps is one thing but Medicaid is another is it because of the amount of costs involved?
Its probably just my mistake
pays homage to the z
since my wife doesn’t work she gets medicaid, she has it better off than me…no, I applied once and they thought about it for about a month then denied me…there’s got to be a reason. thanks for all your research…I guess it wouldn’t hurt to bring it up with my clinic…thanks I will check into it after thinking about it.
It might be that way in some states, I’m not sure. I just know in Michigan (and Oklahoma) the income limit is higher for Medicaid than it is for food stamps.
