I am kinda pissed that its not available in Canada. Sometimes I wish that I was in the US but then guns are legal there and I would have killed myself and/or my brother if I had one.
I guess I have to be patient and hope that it works for my positive and negative symptoms just like Abilify. Both are partial dopamine agonists unlike other antipsychotics. I guess I am lucky that I have less negative symptoms on partial dopamine agonists.
Do you walk much? When I left the hospital. I made it a mission to walk a lot. I went from disabled to able to walk. I was on respiridone at the time, I still can’t run. But that is the next step.
Yes, I was able to work on lower doses of meds, Abilify and Latuda, but I had some positive symptoms and some annoying side effects like akathisia from Latuda.
Holy hell @Aziz, you make this thread at least once a week. Nobody here knows the inner workings of the Canadian drug-approving body. I suggest you look them up and call them on Monday and find out what the holdup is…if you can even get someone like that on the phone. Sheesh.
Just a reminder to everyone that buying prescription medication without a prescription is a crime and you can go to jail for it. Another reminder that this is a publicly searchable website.
Its fine now I don’t have akathisia as I stopped Latuda. I was taking Benzatropine for the akathisia but it took 20min to work. Also I had some positive symptoms on Latuda.
You deserve to be able to meet your friends and go to the gym again to be honest, life is hard as it is.
I say ask the drs about beta blockers for akithisia or any other lead he/she may know of. That way, if you return to abilify or latuda; you could theoretically get back to being some level of activity
I’ve been on propranolol when needed, otherwise my ability/aripiprazole dose is only about 10-15mg. So it. Doesn’t get noticeable more often than not for me,
I didn’t have akathisia on Abilify, I stopped it due to addictions and hypersexuality side effects. My Dr doesn’t want to prescribe it again nor Rexulti as he said it has the same side effects as Abilify. I also read the same thing about Abilify/Rexulti on the FDA website, they both can cause addictions and hypersexuality.
Yeah. I have hypersexuality and addictive behaviour too.
I’m currently using meditation to try to stem it in place as much as possible.
I chain smoke very badly, but as of late, I’ve cut down on sugar and have focused on lifting weights and deep breathing a lot which I am noticing helps
The beta blocker seems to have an added stress reduction or impulse reduction affect too.
I don’t know what to do about the hypersexuality, the beta blocker lowers testosterone, which is helping, but I still get bad cravings and it’s difficult to not be distracted by it.
Here’s to hoping vraylar gets to Canada as soon as possible!
(Have you looked into quetapine? That seemed okay to me, when I researched it)
Abilify’s addictions and hypersexuality were too much to handle in my case, they put me in trouble and at the end they almost damaged my life permanently. I won’t go into details as its illegal stuff and Abilify almost damaged my personality permanently especially the hypersexuality.
I emptied my bank account and was retracting cash from my Visa, I was working full time and more broke than now in bed. My parents paid my debts and I told the psychiatrist about those issues, he said its possible and stopped the Abilify. No more issues now. They were worse than my current negative symptoms.
Yeah, I’ve experienced something relatable as well.
I had upto 6k saved, and after upping the dose of abilify I lost it all to impulse spending, I didn’t do anything illegal but I still lost a lot of money for somebody who had only been working a year.
Thankfully things are better now, for both yourself and myself.
And it’s good your parents are taking care and supporting you as much as they are - that’s a treasure, I hope things improve for you, for their sake as well bc they would be over the moon
