So I do a couple of days down my cricket club usually each week. I’ve a mentor and work under this older guy who has taught me how to do a lot of greenkeepers type stuff. It’s all good and I’ve been doing it for well over 15 years and have learned a lot of things that could really get me a decent job…
Not that I want one! I’m totally happy with my lot and don’t mind helping out but the only trouble is that over the last couple of years the old boy is doing way less. He’s winding down his input and that means a lot more work for me. My hours have probably doubled over the last 2 years and I’m doing way more stuff…
So I’m volunteering my ass off for the pride of doing some good work. It would be nice to get some other people involved but it’s a cricket club of males and lots of people talk the talk but chances of help are less. Plenty want to tell you to do something but their input is nada. Oh well. I’m doing ok and living a lot more healthy so hope to continue the tradition…I need an apprentice badly!
It stinks being the guy in thr group project who does all the work. Maybe you could put up flyers asking for a volunteer one day a week? Maybe local teenagers would want to do it. In my country, teenagers need so many service hours every year for school. Does the same system work over there?
Maybe you should discuss it with the senior if you feel that things are starting to get a little too much for you, and you can come up with a plan to maybe get another person in on the team.
Self realization- fulfilment by oneself of the possibilities of ones personality. If your at this stage, then putting in more hours at your club wont be a big deal. Its for your mates. If its too much stress then more realization is needed. The journey never ends!
