Hello, I’m a male of 24 and I’m taking 1600mg of extended release Quetiapine, which was prescribed to me in the psychiatry. I’ve been on Quetiapine for nearly two years now. I started at 100mg and built up to 800, then 900,1000,1100,1200,1400 and 1500mg(I stayed at 1400 for a couple of months). I was on 1500 for about a month. Yesterday I was prescribed a dose of 1600mg, which I find very high. When I took it yesterday I had no ill effects, but today I’ve got a really bad headache, pressure in the frontal cortex of my brain and tingling in my fingers. The reason for this, my doctor said, is that the amount of Quetiapine in my blood is below the reference range, based on a blood test. I don’t know wheter this is relevant though, as I feel the side effects of this high dosage, particularly aptetite. I seem to gain weight constantly, and it’s not stopping. She suggested taking Metformin for the weight gain. Has anyone here tried a combination of the two? Other than that I don’t take additional antispychotics, only Quetiapine. The reason for the dosage increase is me hearing insulting voices and having the delusion that people(who I don’t know, aka strangers) are spitting on me on the street/the subway. I am not sure though, wheter it’s a delusion or the truth…
p.s. It also gives me heart arrythmias.
