Vaping:how safe is it

A survey of adolescents carried out by researchers at Coventry University has shown that than less than half of e-cigarette users knew that vape products contain nicotine or that they are addictive, raising the possibility that they could be a gateway to smoking normal cigarettes. Nicotine addiction is a real problem but the health issues posed by e-cigarettes are potentially greater than just addiction.

:joy:

I think these people have bigger problems than e-cigarettes.

If you go on the actual cancer website it will state the facts about vaping.

This is a long teme study done and the actual UK cancer website. I am now on 0% nicotine. I might add that nicotine itself (unless injested) is not harmful. If I i jested my e juice it would not be good. But in vape form it is not harmful other than being very addictive and a stimulant much like coffee.

“Safer than smoking” is not the same as saying it’s safe.

So far evidence I’ve heard of of it being unsafe have been explosions of e cigs being left out in the heat or people messing with them.

There is no evidence of it causing lung cancer or other unless you can point to a person. But there is nobody. These other studies are paid for by big tabbacco I wouldn’t trust them at all. Big tabbacco are loosing lots of money.

I feel healthier since starting vaping and coming off the rolling tobacco. Still don’t know the long term effects of it though. Oh well, with all the medication I take it’s low down on my list of concerns.

I plan on stopping vaping eventually. Don’t have to spend money on it.

Vaping still contains nicotine, formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds. It may be somewhat more safe than smoking cigarettes. As well, there seem to be fewer ingredients in them; there are 33 carcinogens in cigarettes.

It is certainly LESS bad for you than smoking tobacco products (or for that matter combusting ANY plant product). However, vaping involves using an oil base for whatever is being vaporized - usually propylene glycol - and the liquid may also contain other additives, preservatives, flavorings etc., and there have been no controlled clinical trials of the effects of inhaling these things, esp. long-term. It would suck if in 5 years we learn they cause more heart attacks than cholesterol.

So from what I read on it, the main danger seems to be that these kids get into e-cigarettes, Get addicted to nicotine, but then eventually have trouble affording e cigarettes bc they’re more expensive than normal cigarettes. (Costs like 14 bucks for a pack of 4 things to smoke vs that price for like an entire box of cigarettes) so then they switch to cigarettes instead and that’s the dangerous to health stuff bc byproducts.

So what we really need to do is like take cigarettes off the market and make e-cigs cheaper. Because nicotine itself supposedly is not that harmful, like how caffeine isn’t that harmful. That’s my understanding of it, I’m no expert though.

I don’t think we have enough data to say whether e-cigs are safe or not.

Aside from battery explosions, my main long-term concern centers around the heating of the coil (atomizer/heating element). These coils are made of iron/chromium/aluminium (Kanthol), nickel/chromium (NiChrome), pure nickel, pure stainless steel, and pure titanium. With the industry moving towards higher voltages (mechanical mods pushing 8 or 9 Volts), I have to wonder if the micro-particles being released from the heating of the metals are safe to inhale.

Time will tell.

just another from of air pollution for the lungs, hi Dr Zen Here, if you can cut throw the smoke for a minute, I well see you. if not keep vaping.

Bet it’s the same bunch of geniuses that have to be told not to snack on Tide Pods.

I don’t know too much about vaping but I’m assuming it’s safer than smoking.
I still wouldn’t vape, as there is not enough info on it.

I enjoy vaping but you guys are so right. It may be decades before the consequences show up. Hope not. But possibly.
