Useless advice regarding med weight gain, not everyones situation is the same

it also targets 5ht2a and b

I took 5htp which increases serotonin which is an agonist at that receptor. I felt like I was manic. Serotonin is bad for me.

usually when i feel manic its just anxiety. true mania feels so good and intense that you would not care or be worried about the feeling

Idk if its mania but I felt hypersexual and impulsive willing to take dangerous risks.

I learned to detect this feeling I had on Abilify but not sure if its mania.

It’s easy to lose weight on AP’s. I’ve done it 435 times myself.

Most of these drugs stimulate appetite. The pills have no caloric value of their own so they don’t cause weight gain by themselves. The only solution is to control intake/appetite.

You want to find a diet that you can live with on a long-term basis, and not one that’s unpalatable and unsatisfying. Any diet will help you lose weight only if you’re ingesting fewer calories than you’re burning.

Interestingly, people on ketogenic diets report feeling less hungry and more satisfied after eating.

Please do not push fad diets here.

I’m nearly 200lbs. I’m upset but I’m going to do something about it. Remeron caused it. I took zyprexa years ago and it made me gain weight. It didn’t matter what I ate I gained weight.

It’s hell. Making effort goes a long way.

To be honest I’m tired of starving myself.
I think the Ozempic is losing some of its effectiveness.

It was an example that came to mind, not an endorsement. There are other diets that can help the OP.

You can edit my post as necessary.

Living on antipsychotic is hard work. I’m only on 2.5mg abilify, yet my ability to jog is still affected.

Making it hard for me to regulate my appetite even on such a low dose.

obviously no one thinks the caloric value of the pill is causing weight gain. that sounds like the dumb ass ■■■■ my first pdoc used to say. it is proven in studies that the meds cause changes to metabolic parameters as well as increase appetite. if you take someone who gains on the med and take them off the med they will lose weight. someone dealing with the metabolic effects of the meds is not going to benefit significantly from a keto diet especially if appetite is out of control. trying to stick to a diet on olanzapine is extremely difficult and you are talking in the same annoying way as what this post is about.

I apologize if my post on height offended you. I was just trying to reassure you that you werent overly short, that I am the same , and give you a link to standard heights of men. Wasn’t meant to be offensive.

Edit: I have no idea if mine was the comment(s) that bothered you btw.

@cigarino i get frustrated too

Meds make us gain or plateau

Its not a case of diet an exercise

Yeah people tell me to diet and exercise but it doesn’t help. I lost some weight when I quit Zyprexa but I weigh more now than I did two years ago which is disappointing.

The best you can do is take responsibility for your weight gain. It’s easy to blame the meds but that doesn’t address the problem. Weight gain occurs from taking in more calories than you burn, PERIOD. If you don’t believe me, that’s fine. But it’s the truth.

I’m done with this thread.
