So I called my psychiatrist and he told me to up the dose so that the depression will be more under control. I told him that I have not had any hallucinations or delusions recently, and that hallucinations haven’t been occurring for a month. He told me that as it is with psychotic depression people with it tend to go on long remissions with psychosis occurring once in a while. While I am under control of psychosis, my depression has been going through the roof. I’m glad that I have a chance to control this horrible depression and low self-esteem.
Hi Laetitia, i hope you feel a bit better soon
Don’t depend on medication alone for depression. Find some compelling reasons to live so when get strike with depressive thoughts you don’t get extremely low.
How do you know that you aren’t delusional?
I’m happy to hear you more optimistic. Good call to call your pdoc.
I think it’s a good thing. I suffer horrible depression. It is way worse to me than positive symptoms. Best thing I ever did was get that under medication control…the rest of sz is gravy to me rather than that depression.
I’m not having any strange beliefs- paranoia stems from my PTSD.
well, you wouldn’t realize if you were delusional I think…
Yeah. I have good insight so if I was delusional I would tell you about it. My main delusions are delusions of reference which tend to occur when I’m really depressed. But when it happens I’m well aware that it is a delusion due to years of sz (former diagnosis).
oh i see. sorry for being mistaken
You don’t need to be sorry!
I really hope things work out for you.
Fingers crossed the increased dose has an effect !
This is good news from you. Hope the increase of the dose of your meds works out for you.
Finally you spoke with your pdr. Hopefully antidepressants will help you and even if they don’t, there is lithium and ECT for treatment resistant depression. I wish we had such good treatments for schizophrenia. For negative and positive symptoms. As you see on this forum some are treatment resistant and live with psychosis their whole life.
And many others like me live with severe negative symptoms for life. Negative symptoms don’t respond to treatment and contribute the most to the lower quality of life.

Thank you friends! I’m staying hopeful that this dose will work.
I’m sorry that you have horrible negative symptoms. I used to get them too before. Now, my psychosis is under control and I hope one day you’ll be able to do the things that you love.
