are prone to get hurt. I was hurt on some playground equipment because it was unsupervised. Adults work to do things for children and don’t always see the hazards. They mean well.
I grew up unsupervised often. I would roam the neighborhood and the woods around it and freak my parents out when they couldn’t find me after a while. I was left alone at home to babysit since I was 3 years old.
I rarely got injured or into trouble. My mom says I was the perfect child. My little brother was the one who was always getting up to mischief and couldn’t be left alone or he’d hurt himself or make a huge mess.

I used to trespass in the fields and woods around our house. I know I wasn’t wanted but it didn’t stop me.
I was too scared of the world to let my daughter do anything by herself. Well when she was 11 or 12 I began to let her play outside by herself. That was hard for me cos I worried about her but at that age kids need a little independence. But I checked on her though.
