It is not available in the UK for at least another 5-6 years, so I won’t torture myself with wishful thinking as yet.

Ulotaront is a standalone med. Karxt is a med coupled with another med to stop you salivating I think.
I was under the impression that KarXT was for psychosis? Hmm maybe I got it wrong.
It’s for psychosis, but it’s 2 meds.

Ulotaront (SEP-363856) is a trace-amine associated receptor 1 (TAAR1) agonist with 5-HT1A receptor agonist activity in Phase 3 clinical development for the treatment of schizophrenia⁵. In the Phase 2 study, there were virtually no side effects derived from D2 blockade. Extrapyramidal symptoms occurred in 3.3% of patients on Ulotaront and 3.2% on placebo. Weight gain was small, averaging 0.3 kg gain². Ulotaront has demonstrated positive effects in rodent models assessing endophenotypes of schizophrenia, including phencyclidine (PCP)-induced hyperactivity, prepulse inhibition, and PCP-induced social withdrawal⁶. Treatment with ulotaront was not associated with clinically meaningful effects on weight or metabolic parameters or increase in QTc interval³.
And for karxt
KarXT is a novel antipsychotic drug that has shown promise in treating schizophrenia¹². It has the potential to address all three symptom areas associated with schizophrenia (positive, negative and cognitive)². The most common adverse events associated with KarXT were mild-to-moderate and not associated with treatment discontinuation, they included constipation, nausea, dry mouth, dyspepsia and vomiting¹. Rates of nausea, vomiting and dry mouth decreased over the course of the trial, while rates of constipation remained essentially constant¹.

According to the Japanese guru patient, ulotaront might be a significantly strong med. It might possibly have an effect on anxiety. I am in no rush because of prior med fiascos.

I think Karxt will be out a lot earlier than Ulotaront so it will depend which one is out first in Australia….but if I had a choice Ulotaront sounds like less side effects.

That is the last thing I need. I’m on so many antihistamines my mouth is so dry already.

A guru patient from Japan stated there will be a hypertension trial of KarXT in the future.
