Uh oh. The lady who is helping me seems very unstable

The lady helping me with the cat is becoming more and more anxious and wants to scan the cat’s microchip for the owner’s info with the rescue’s scanner when she can get it so she can contact the owner directly. I said no. Not yet. Let’s let the vet take care of it for now.

Then she started texting me and saying how anxious she is etc. I am trying to calm her down but she just seems very unstable.

I am confused. If the cat has a microchip, why wouldn’t you want to scan it and contact it’s owners?

Where did you meet this lady?
Is she a neighbor, @LilyoftheValley?

Maybe she’s anxious because she wants the poor cat to find a good home.

But I know where your coming from @LilyoftheValley

Having the Vet take care of her first is very important

The vet scanned it and is contacting the owners. They said I’m not supposed to get that info, that it’s private. She wants to scan the cat and also be contacting the owners at the same time which I think is harassment

I met her on the Facebook page for people who live in my area (a section of the city I live in)

Oh, I see. The vet is already taking care of it, then? I understand now.

Yes. The vet has already left a couple messages, one yesterday and one today. They going to try for a whole week before giving up.

I hope this lady calms down. I agree with you, it would be way too much. If the owners don’t respond to several messages, they won’t respond to even more of them.

Right. At that point it’s just harassment.

Yeah. After a week, will the vet be looking for new homes for it?

Yes. Or I can turn her over to a rescue. I think I’ll let the vet help since this lady doesn’t seem stable and hers is the only rescue in the last 4 months that’s been willing to help me.

That seems smart. If her anxiety is too uncontrolled to provide realistic help, it might be best for her to take a break from her duties for a bit while she gets it back under control. Or at least focus on cases that don’t trigger her anxiety as much.

I agree. Maybe if I can’t calm her down I’ll gently let her know a break might help
