I was reading online that some insurance will not cover both cologuard and a colonoscopy.
I will not be happy if I have to dish out thousands of dollars for a false positive.
I guess I have no choice to get it done now though. I guess I should have just got one in the first place instead of trying to avoid it with a cologuard test.
@Bowens , usually the follow up colonoscopy is considered diagnostic instead of preventive. Therefore you pay a large copay. My copay for my diagnostic colonoscopy was $225 this year
Internet sources say 13% chance of false positive. Also, a positive means that either test detected altered DNA or blood in stool. So it could be precancerous growths, colorectal cancer or something else.
It would be nice if they told you what was detected instead of having to wait months for a colonoscopy wondering.
I had a positive test a couple years ago and then had a follow up colonscopy. No issues of any kind were found other than hemorrhoids which I already knew about.
