Maybe Im being paranoid - But I dont think so

I’m beginning to think that I do indeed have colon cancer.

  1. First the positive cologuard test which got me looking

  2. Then noticing the recurring sulfer/rotten egg burps (look it up, its a sign)

  3. Plus, last year I had sudden, unexpected weight loss.

  4. And I sometimes have gut issues.

I feel fairly certain I have it. My question is how advanced it is. I could be wrong though.

Everyone keeps telling I dont have it or its unlikely but the signs are there, IMO.

I have a consultation with GI doctor Tuesday.

@Bowens

I hope it’s not colon cancer, but you do need to see a doctor to make sure, and it will reduce the stress of not knowing. If it is colon cancer, early detection leads to better outcomes.

Have you had a colonscopy after the positive stool test? Or is that the appointment on Tues.?

A couple of years ago, I had a positive stool test but the colonscopy didnt find anything concerning.

I think there is no way to know until you get that colonoscopy.

Hopefully you can get closure soon.

you’re right, there is no way to be sure until its done. It’s very frustrating though, I originally had this GI appointment at an earlier date and then they called me and said the doctor “changed his schedule” and would be at his location in a nearby city. Then they moved the date back.

I really hope you don’t bro. Wishing you well. I sometimes have this fear as well as I’ve had issues for a long time.

if youve had issues for a long time I would set up a colonoscopy asap.

I would have thought your primary care dr would have ordered the colonscopy since it is standard to have a colonscopy if the stool test is positive. It’s odd that you have to see a GI dr first. Without a colonscopy, there’s not much the GI dr can tell you.

Yea you’re right. Honestly I’ve been putting it off hopefully it’s nothing.

I honestly don’t know if they ordered it or not. I just know that I have to meet GI doctor Tuesday. Maybe they will set up the date and discuss what I have to do then.

She may have ordered it but this is the GI docs procedure for doing it. IDK.

I just know I had the positive cologuard test. then awhile later GI doc office called to set up appt. Then they rescheduled on me.

Just as an update to this, I have discovered that Ozempic can cause sulfur burps…so this could be an explanation as well.

Hope it’s nothing. I think black tary stools are a sign of possible progressed colon cancer.

Blood in stools can also be a sign, but that is more likely to be a ulcer.

I had a colonscopy some months ago. The procedure went well. Didn’t find cancer. I also took ultrasound to check for abnormalities.

My doctor concluded it most likely is a ulcer and I agree as certain foods trigger pain and discomfort.

Thanks. What really had me going was the frequent sulfur burps. It just seemed unlikely that I would get that positive test and then get the sulfur burps. But like I said, Ozempic can cause it. So, I’m less convinced now. I despise Ozempic. I want to get off it. It doesnt help me with weight loss or appetite control or blood sugar. All it does is give me occasional stomach problems and sulfur burps that make me think I have cancer.

I’m not super duper afraid of death. What I am afraid of is not knowing what the f is going on and waiting and pain and the process of death.

Anywhoo, I’m less concerned now. Thanks.

I’m glad you’re feeling better about it now. Hopefully they schedule your colonoscopy right away so you can rule out cancer and not have to worry anymore.
