Ugh! Found out the surgeon made a mistake!

So I went in to see the surgeon again today and he asked “did you get any antibiotics?” I said, “no I was told I didn’t need any since they put some in my IV on surgery day” he seemed worried and gave me prescription for antibiotics and an ointment with antibiotics in it and he said it doesn’t look infected yet but seemed very concerned and although he took off the fabric stick on stitch thing he left the actual stitch and wrapped it and sent in the prescriptions and it hasn’t been easy to get them Walmart was out of the ointment and Walgreens said they didn’t think my insurance covered it and it was a $300 ointment so I told Walgreens go ahead and fill it and now I’m just waiting for them to fill it but apparently they are short staffed today so might take a while

At the end of the day I’m really frustrated and feel lucky, if I’d had an infection it may have caused me to go into septic shock by now but I’m lucky in some ways

@dougRN so far so good I mostly feel tired mostly, I just got a call from Walgreens the ointment will cost $4 so insurance is covering a lot unfortunately I gotta wait for my husband to get home before I can get it but he’ll be home at 4 and it’s 12:30 right now. It’s okay I’m just ready to have the day over, I had to reschedule all of my dental appointments so I can’t get my dentures until AFTER my birthday so I probably will have no upper teeth on my birthday and it will probably be embarrassing but I’ve been running around without upper teeth but still it’s embarrassing

Good luck with the antibiotics. I hope you can avoid infection.

Can I ask you a couple of questions? Your carpal tunnel was caused by crocheting, right?? Or is that not so? Second question: was it your left wrist that you had surgery on??

The reason I ask is because I’m doing my first crochet project, a blanket, and my left wrist really hurts.

@Blossom so one factor that is involved is my Graves disease and that can cause a bigger chance of having carpal tunnel. If you think you have carpal tunnel I’d suggest going and talking to your doctor

I did not know the correlation between graves disease and carpal tunnel. Thank you for stating that. Learn something new everyday.

@Speedy yeah I know but I seem to be okay, I don’t have a fever or anything just sore and tired, I’m trying to relax and not worry much

That sucks. Thankfully, you’re ok. I’m glad your insurance covered the ointment. What a relief!
