Just got back from an adventure. I went to the gas station for a soda and this big car pulled in in front of me and looked like it was leaning to one side slightly. Well, they had a flat tire. I parked next to them and it was a woman who looked to be in her thirties, an old woman and a toddler in a car seat. I asked her if she had a spare because i could help them change the tire if they did. But she said no, they had neither a spare nor a jack.
She said she hit something in the road and the tire went flat. She had tried to put more air in the tire but it wouldn’t hold any. She was calling around but no one around here comes out and fixes tires except Triple A, which she didn’t have. She only had $10 cash on her. I wasn’t sure what to do but i didn’t want to leave two women and a toddler stranded there.
I went in, looked and they sold Fix-a-Flat there, so i suggested i get a can of that and see if that would work. I did and it didn’t. So i suggested trying to take the tire off using my jack (which may or may not have worked) and driving the tire somewhere to have it fixed. She called a place but it would be $30 to fix and she only had $10. I don’t have the money to buy her a tire so i wasn’t sure what to do at this point.
Finally, she was able to get through to some relatives. She was from the next county over and had come here to go to the Food Bank. It seemed her relatives were going to try and make it here to see about her so i said farewell and got back in my car and drove home. I felt bad about not being able help them but i did all i could do.
