I like a trip once or twice a year, but I don’t like long car rides anymore and I don’t fly either. I used to go all over the country for trips, spent all my extra money on trips but now im looking for places closer and more affordable.
im looking for places within a 4 hour radius from me. sometimes I like to go up to Bloomington or lake Monroe but don’t have a lot of spots to get away that are close. it just doesn’t seem like a different place when you travel close. so I don’t get that complete re-setting of my mind, that makes being home again seem new for a couple months.
it’s just not an exciting area of the country. I do like the great lakes, but that’s too far. and the hiking isn’t great around here. I’ve been researching destinations close by but nothing is real appealing. there is some camping and I found a place where I could take a bike trip.
in the future I may just budget for a couple music festivals a year, there are two bluegrass festivals close by. and a folk music festival just down the road. so that is probably what I will do in the future, with the occasional bike trip or camping trip.
