Is it possible to find a doctor to treat psychosis or schizophrenia without dopamine blockers?

Thanks

Clozapine is not d2 blockator…

I mean, yes? But I don’t know how trustworthy they would be. Anti psychotics are first line treatment for psychotic disorders

Do you have a source for that. This is news to me

I’m in Boston. There’s a new antipsychotic that doesn’t effect dopamine blockers called Nuplazid.

Is a strong d4 blockator, but that affects only drooling…

New meds are in development that don’t block dopamine, KarXT, Ulotaront, several others.

Yea my Dr told me Clozapine blocks dopamine less than other APs.

Ohhh so THAT is why it is said to be best for negative symptoms.

Yea I know someone he has to sleep with a towel on his pillow cos of clozapine drooling

AFAIK, they are mostly for negative symptoms, meaning they will be used in adjunct with antipsychotic, although I may be wrong, and could change over time.

From what I read they also treat positive symptoms. Lookup KarXT.

I believe Clozapine still blocks D2 receptor. It just does it weaker than most aps

Yes true. Its why my Dr is prescribing it for me.

Unlike traditional anti-psychotic agents, such as chlorpromazine (Thorazine) and haloperidol (Haldol) as well as the newer anti-psychotics, risperidone (Risperdal) and olanzapine (Zyprexa), clozapine only weakly blocks dopamine type 2 receptors .

Man this is really interesting to know.

It also is low on extrapyramidal side effects.

However,

It is one of the strongest anticholinergic aps. Which kinda scares me personally

It doesnt block mine enough, I still need D2 blockators prn…

I am interested to see how you do on Clozapine Aziz. If it greatly reduces your negatives, I might give it a go myself.

From all these Ziprasidone seems to be the best for negative symptoms but not sure I guess I have to try it to know 100%.
