Too much water bad?

It’s common knowledge that too little is bad, but what about too much? Some nurse commented I drank a lot of water one time, and talked about electrolyte imbalance or something, but I can’t remember the details.

Sometimes I just feel this constant low level thirst, maybe because of the dry mouth the meds are causing, I’m not sure.

I once heard about a woman dying from too much water, but I have to imagine that would be A LOT.

I could drink tons of water. I feel thisty all the time with the dry mouth. I stick to 2.5 litres a day. The other liquids I drink are coffees.

The zyprexa is known to cause thirst as a side effect.

I don’t understand the mechanism, but I feel better off satisfying the thirst than ignoring it. It’s pretty unpleasant with a dry mouth.

I probably drink about 2,5-3 litres a day, which is somewhat over the recommended 2 litres, but then again body size matters too. I imagine the more a person weighs, the more fluid they need.

Too much of anything is a bad thing. You should only consume around 2L per day.

It’s important to get salt, calcium and potassium through diet since these help regulate electrolytes.

Salt and calcium is pretty easy, potassium is a bit more challenging.

AI Overview:

Too much water intake" in individuals with schizophrenia is often referred to as “psychogenic polydipsia,” which is a condition characterized by excessive thirst and compulsive water drinking, potentially leading to dangerous complications like hyponatremia (low sodium levels) due to the dilution of electrolytes in the blood; this can be a significant concern for people with schizophrenia, as they may experience this symptom more frequently than the general population.
