Could you even imagine being an adult and going through those times?

Yes he achieved things through non-violent means and that’s what makes him great. However even to this day a half century later I still hear of the 1st minority achievements. While it is great they achieved something it’s a shame it took so long and there’s usually a token man or woman who did it. Many minorities are still in ghettos and are treated as lesser people. So it’s hard to look a minority in the eye and say it’s best to continue to be non-violent even though it’s in my best interest to do so.

There are people of all color in ghettos, in poverty, who are treated as lesser people. I don’t think it’s a color thing anymore, it’s a class thing now. And violence isn’t a way out of poverty unless you’re a boxer or a MMA fighter. As far as looking a minority in the eye and thinking they might be better off getting violent about their situation, that seems like dangerous thinking.

No I don’t want them too because I’d be one of the first to go. I just want to warn you that some of them are very angry about their situation and the working minority are some of the most angry because they see their own kind mistreated by racist cops, and many business offices are often a certain color and the lower paying jobs are of another. I didn’t see it at the apartment that much because we were all in the same shape but in the World where money and power matter more there is more friction. Even at the apartment though somebody talked to me about such a situation as open rebellion. At the group home I’d heard a number of references to a scene in “The Help” and worse although they do their jobs and show concern towards all the residents. It’s a mix of things that go together in a interesting and sad way.

I’m sorry but I disagree with your line of thinking @Blizzard

Before I started being followed I used to go to the local candlelight vigils and marches. It means a lot to me even though I’m Caucasian. I started my freshman year in high school up until my thirties. At first, in my twenties I ignored those who were following me, but as time went on it became more and more difficult. I miss going.

But I will also say I was not always welcome to be there. In Detroit, there’s a ton of anger and it hasn’t stopped since the riots long ago. It’s a real problem that we as a nation need to address.

A great man . Definitely in my A list of admirable people.

He was a great revolutionary and spiritual leader.

It’s a shame what the FBI did to him and his followers.

Happy heavenly birthday, Sir!!!
